ready, set, go…..?

Today saw a guy in my favourite burrito shop with a t-shirt that read (in English..)

IT IS
WHAT
IT IS

A wonderful quote from the poem „What it is“ by Erich Fried

Love the sentence as it looks at reality in an odd way. It confirms that it is — well — what it is. Which is such a clear statement yet I wonder who is to know the definite answer to WHAT IT IS. So like many sentences that circle around truth, it is paradox.

I have been sitting on the backpack lying in my room, just to experience what it is like to literally sit on packed suitcases.

Pictures are flirring through my mind. All the things I’ve read in the guide, the ones I prefer so far, my plans concluded from that, and the excitement to finally see things in real – and then forget all my smart plans and trust the moment.
The picture of what it might be leaves a bitter taste as I read the news from Mexico with calm and time today and couldn’t help but feel some sort of despair.

I daresay a german exchange student being shot in his butt is the least of the problems, even if that gained the same priority on Spiegel’s online news as did the background info on drug syndicates.  Wich really is kind of creepy.

Is it strange to go see a country and look forward to it SO MUCH while it so obviously struggles?

And while my head has a lot of smart ideas and threads for endless discussion – my heart tells me to go and find out all about what it is. Hope you’re in for the stories my life is ready to tell as much as I am…
